Fall Sunday School classes

begin September 19 at 9:15 AM

3-year-olds through 8th graders: meet in the School Gym to begin their time together – then divide into classes. We are excited to welcome the children to a wonderful year of weaving faith into their young lives! Our studies this year will take us on a journey into the lives of David, Solomon, and Elijah. We will learn how God worked in their lives, and weave faith into our own lives, from their experiences. Jesus said, “Anyone who listens to My teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock.” (Matthew 7:24) Our hope is to provide our children with the knowledge and faith needed to build that “rock” foundation to carry them through the storms of life. Please join us as we begin our journey this year. Every child is welcome!

Life Light: led Lynn Genter in the Lower–Level Conference Room. LifeLight is a “question and answer” in-depth study format which explores the text as-well-as applying the text to everyday life. The goal of LifeLight is through a regular program of in–depth personal and group study of Scripture more Christian adults may grow in their personal faith in Jesus Christ, enjoy fellowship with the members of His body, and reach out in love to others in witness and service. Please join us . . . we start “Judges” on September 19.

Senior High Youth: led by Mark & Becky Denney in the Youth Room (above the Church Office). Using movies, music, and print, we will discuss events and issues important to youth. Students choose each topic before we discuss it – so make sure YOU are there to help pick what you want to study!

Pastor Ed’s Class:

Love your neighbor. Change the world.

It starts with you. It starts today.

Well, actually, Becoming a Good Samaritan begins on Sunday, September 19 … but that’s not really true either! Becoming a Good Samaritan should have already begun within each of us, and more and more every day … but, the study of this topic will begin on September 19, at 9:15 AM, as the theme for Pastor Ed’s Adult Bible Class for the fall.

This study (a result of the partnership of World Vision, the C2 Group, and Zondervan) is an unprecedented initiative to help us live out Christ’s love in world-changing ways – right now; right where we live! We will explore such issues as poverty, social injustice, pandemic disease, environmental concerns – and, we will learn how to make a personal, street-level impact today: radical, yet commonsense ideas for living out our faith in ways that will change our neighborhoods, our community, our world!

Pastor Ed’s class meets each Sunday morning in the Church Basement, and everyone is welcome to attend. You’ll find fellowship and Christian growth, coffee and goodies, plus a Nursery for those too young for Sunday School.

The homeless man wandering the streets.

The disenfranchised roaming the neighborhood.

The sick and forgotten pushed to the edge of town.

Let’s get to work!

. . . Coming Later This Fall!

EARLY COMMUNION CLASS:  Wednesday evenings, October 6, 13, 20, 7-8:30 PM, in the Lower-Level Conference Room. Each fall, we offer “early communion” instruction for students entering 5th Grade (or older, who have not yet been Confirmed), who would like to participate in the reception of the Lord’s Supper. This class, offered for both the student and their parent(s), prepares the student to receive the Sacrament on Reformation Sunday (October 31). Those interested in attending need to pre-register by contacting Pastor Ed at the Church Office (682-0387; pastor@splcs.org).

Adult Membership Class:  9 AM – 4:30 PM – Saturday, October 16, in the Lower–Level Conference Room. Our Fall Adult Membership Class is a 1–day, intensive course of instruction based on Luther’s Small Catechism, to prepare interested adults for membership at St. Paul. Interested in taking part? Contact Pastor Ed (682-0387; pastor@splcs.org) as soon as possible!

* For Lutheran members transferring to St. Paul, this class is not required . . . but is strongly encouraged!
